Crunchy ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Account information (email, username, avatar) when you create an account, including via Sign in with Apple
Product photos you take when scanning — these are analyzed by Google Gemini AI and stored in our cloud storage so your scan history can display them
Product barcodes you scan — used to look up product information, including from the public Open Food Facts and Open Beauty Facts databases (no personal information is sent with these lookups)
Your scan history and saved products (stored on your device and, when you are signed in, in our cloud database)
Usage data and app preferences
Concern preferences you set during onboarding
Purchase and subscription information processed through Apple and RevenueCat

To calculate your Crunchy Score and track your clean living journey
To personalize your experience based on your concern preferences
To process subscriptions and manage your account

We never sell your personal data to third parties

Third-Party Services

Google Gemini AI: Product photos are sent to Google's Gemini AI for real-time analysis. Google may process data according to their privacy policy.
Supabase: Account data (email, username), your scan history, and product photos you take are stored securely in our Supabase-hosted database and storage.
Open Food Facts / Open Beauty Facts: When you scan a barcode, the barcode is sent to these free public databases to retrieve product information. No personal information is included in these requests. Product data is used under the Open Database License (ODbL).
RevenueCat: Subscription status and purchase receipts are processed by RevenueCat to manage your Pro membership. RevenueCat may collect device identifiers and purchase data as described in their privacy policy.
Apple: In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed through Apple's App Store. Apple's terms and privacy policy apply to all transactions.

Data Storage and Retention

Your scan history, saved products, and preferences are stored on your device, and — when you are signed in — synced to our cloud database
Account data, scan history, and product photos are stored securely in our cloud database and storage for as long as your account is active
When you delete your account, all associated cloud data, including scan history and photos, is permanently removed within 30 days
Local data can be cleared at any time by deleting the app from your device

Auto-Renewable Subscriptions

Crunchy Pro is available as a monthly ($5.99/month) or yearly ($29.99/year) auto-renewable subscription
Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase
Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings
Any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited upon purchasing a subscription

Children's Privacy

Crunchy is not directed to children under the age of 13
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13
If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly
If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately

Your Rights

Access your personal data at any time through the app
Delete your account and all associated data
Export your scan history
Opt out of any data collection beyond what's required for core functionality
